Day 1 – Let the Sailing Begin!

Day 1 – Let the Sailing Begin!

The first day of Helsinki Dragon Gold Cup is officially behind us and what a day it was!

Although the last days of organizing have been hectic, the HSK and the Finnish Dragon Association organizing team is happy with how everything came together.

“Everybody has been really pleased with the event and seem to be enjoying themselves. For us, that’s the most important thing,” Rudy Jurg from the Finnish Dragon Association reports with a smile.

After a tight day of sailing all the sailors returned to the marina – hungry! Luckily all was set for a nice after sailing meal. Na’am kitchen offered a delicious pasta dinner for all the sailors. Thank you Na’am for the food!

Yesterday’s winners were Per Skoglund, Björn Österblom and Patrik Karlsson (SWE 320). All the crew members were happy with result since it was their first race for the year.

“The race was nice and the conditions ok, steady wind. It was the first race of the year, so we’re really happy with the outcome. We are also looking forward to the upcoming days, hopefully we can stay in the top!” the winning crew comments.

The first race day was sponsored by Gurit. Gurit is a leading supplier of composite materials and solutions to the marine sector with over 30 years experience. Gurit also provided the daily prizes for the winners of the first race day, which included Wenger watches, Victorinox Swiss army knives and travel chargers – products that are well needed out on the sea. Thank you Gurit!

A great day of racing was be topped off with the Finnish Dragon Association’s cocktail party at Clarion living room bar. The party was sponsored by Katko. Katko has over 70 years experience in designing, manufacturing and marketing of Load Break and Fuse Switches.

After a great first day it is good to continue to the upcoming days!
